Katy Independent School District Implements Zangle From C Innovation
to Better Manage Student Data and Expedite Mandated Reporting
One of Texas’ fastest growing district cites ability to quickly access information
and improve delivery of educational services to it’s community
KATY, TEXAS. (April 27, 2006) – Katy Independent School District (KISD) announces that it has
partnered with C Innovation and implemented ZANGLE, the company’s flagship student information management system.
ZANGLE will help the school district to better manage data on approximately 42,000 students in 44 schools
and to comply with new reporting mandates set by Texas law as well as the No Child Left Behind federal legislation.
“After an extensive and thorough district needs analysis, we selected ZANGLE from C-Innovation because it
offered an advanced and flexible technology platform to help us manage our unique student data needs and
fulfill our state reporting requirements (PEIMS),” said Lenny Schad, Deputy Superintendent for Technology.
“We’re pleased with the implementation of the software, the data conversion, as well as the current
performance of ZANGLE at our campuses. C-Innovation has been a great partner to our district.”
The ZANGLE system has been in use throughout the district since August of 2004. The campuses are very pleased
with the new capabilities that ZANGLE gives them. Larry Hodo, Lead Counselor for West Memorial Junior High
illustrates this by saying “I have really enjoyed the new ZANGLE products and the ZANGLE people. It is a
definite improvement over previous systems. I feel that we have hardly scratched the surface of what ZANGLE
can do for us and I am excited about our future with ZANGLE”.
ZANGLE has improved the district’s overall reporting capabilities, especially with respect to PEIMS.
Aline Odem, PEIMS Specialist for Katy Independent School District adds “Although this transition year from
Delta to ZANGLE has been challenging, as it would be with any new student program, the benefits of ZANGLE’s
flexibility, endless potential for data validation and detailed reporting to the state far outweigh any
challenges we have faced. C-Innovation and our technology department have introduced a whole new world of
possibilities for Katy ISD”.
KATY INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT SELECTS ZANGLE
ZANGLE currently manages data on approximately two million students in 200 school districts across the country.
According to Scott Cervenka, Executive Director for Enterprise Projects, “We learned early in the process that
ZANGLE provided the tools to manage information and resources effectively. ZANGLE has improved the reporting
of information, as well as enhancing our district’s delivery of educational services. A critical deciding
factor was the superior service reputation that C-Innovation has developed in a very tough marketplace.”
“KISD is an innovative school district that is committed to integrating technology to provide a greater
educational experience and achieve the new levels of accountability demanded by state, local and federal government,”
says Bill Naughtin, COO at C-Innovation. “The transition from its legacy system to ZANGLE will support these
objectives, especially in helping parents, teachers and administrators access complete information about
students anytime, anywhere—all in an accurate, secure and real-time environment.”

PRESS RELEASE: No Data Left Behind
C Innovation, Inc. - 3/25/2003
San Diego City Schools Selects Zangle From C Innovation
to Better Manage Student Data and Expedite Mandated Reporting
California’s second largest district cites ability to quickly access information from 200 disparate
databases to improve delivery of educational services at nearly 190 schools.
CLAREMONT, Calif. (March 25, 2003) – C Innovation announces today that San Diego City Schools (SDCS)
has purchased ZANGLE, the company’s flagship student information management system, as part of the city’s
District Wide Applications project. ZANGLE will help the school district to better manage data on
approximately 141,000 students in 187 schools and to comply with new reporting mandates set by California
law as well as the No Child Left Behind federal legislation. San Diego City Schools is the second largest
school system in California and the eighth largest urban school district in the United States.
"After an extensive and thorough review process, we selected Zangle from C Innovation because it offered a
very advanced, flexible technology platform to help us manage our unique student data needs and fulfill
our state reporting requirements (CSIS)," said Ronne Froman, Chief Business Officer for San Diego City Schools.
"We’re pleased to have selected not only an excellent student management system but a true partner that has a
reputation for helping school districts succeed by delivering on its promises."
Froman says the objective of the District Wide Applications project is to implement a secure student information
system that is fully integrated, including student information, enrollment, scheduling, attendance, special
education, special program information, health, transportation, demographics, assessment, and other reporting
requirements.
According to Mike Casey, Director of the Student Information Project for San Diego City Schools, there currently
is some data sharing and transfer between the various district systems, but they operate as separate systems
and do not present an integrated interface for district users.
"Our goal is to have data automatically transferred between SDCS databases and have it accessible in real time
for educators, administrators and parents," says Casey. "Starting this year, we will achieve greater functionality
by consolidating a variety of systems into the ZANGLE database, which will interface with new financial and human
resources software applications."
Zangle currently manages data on approximately two million students in 200 school districts across the country,
including California districts such as Riverside County, Clovis, Ventura and Claremont.
According to Casey, C Innovation was recommended to the committee by enthusiastic school districts across the
country noting the company’s ability to customize the technology and to provide reliable customer service.
"We heard throughout the process that Zangle provided the tools to manage information and resources effectively,
improve the reporting of information to all who have a need and improve the delivery of educational services,"
says Casey. "A critical deciding factor was the superior service reputation that C Innovation has developed in
a very tough marketplace."
"San Diego is an innovative school district that is committed to integrating technology to provide a greater
educational experience and achieve the new levels of accountability demanded by state, local and federal government,"
says Bill Naughtin, Director of Operations at C Innovation. "The transition from its legacy system to Zangle
will support these objectives, especially helping parents, teachers and administrators access complete information
about students anytime, anywhere—all in an accurate, secure and real-time environment."
